July, 1998

Executive Committee
Chairman: Maurizio Davolio Italy)

Secretaries:  Mats Ahnlund (for ICA internal reports and administration)
  Urbain Claeys (for external relations, BITS: Belgium)

At present TICA is undergoing a phase of restructuring. A membership drive has started which is giving promising results. All management functions have been suspended except the Chairmanship. TICA operates in close co-operation with the Bureau International du Tourisme Social in consideration of their common interests and values; a number of co-operative organisations in fact are members of BITS.

TICA intends to operate in the following areas:

Definition of its co-operative identity based on joint work, its democratic structure, the fact that it is a non-profit organisation and its principles of mutuality;

Search for opportunities for business relations amongst its members and with members of BITS;

Participation in international projects for the development of tourism through the services of the most expert professionals from its associated organisations;

  Development of a tourism based on respect for the environment and local populations which aims to aid the least prosperous classes.

In the next few months TICA will be present at the BITS Congress which should take place in Lisbon from 15 to 18 September and during which a workshop will be held. The Chairman will take part in some regional ICA meetings with the aim of making new contacts, thus contributing to the re-launch and strengthening of TICA.
