Co-operative leadership training for women in Asia-Pacific
***********************************************
Ten specialists in the areas of training, gender and co-operative
development will attend a preparatory workshop, jointly organised
by ICA-ROAP and the ILO COOPNET Programme, in Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia from December 9 to 11, 1997. To be hosted by ANGKASA,
the National Co-operative Organisation of Malaysia, the workshop is
the first stage to draft a women's leadership training program for
co-operatives.

Invitees will prepare technical papers based on their experiences in
leadership training, focusing on both successes and failures. A paper
will also be presented outlining the existing leadership training programs
for women in the region, both co-operative and non-co-operative.

The preparatory workshop will discuss the necessity and feasibility of
developing a women's leadership training programme for co-operatives.
Discussions will determine the need to identify target groups, the type of
training and develop an outline for the product.
