ICA/ILO Coopnet Preparatory Workshop on Co-op Leadership Training

The ICA Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in collaboration with
the ILO Coopnet has held a preparatory workshop on Co-operative
Leadership Development for Women from 9-11 December, 1997 at
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, hosted by ANGKASA. 20 participants from
India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka, AWCF,
CCA, ILO, ILO Coopnet and ICA ROAP participated at the workshop.

The workshop was to chalked out strategies for the development of
co-operative women leaders in the region and proposed that a
module/manual be prepared for such training, using the services of
a consultant.

The target group identified by the workshop was women leaders and
potential women leaders in co-operative societies preferably at the
grassroots level.

The draft manual prepared by the Consultant is to be approved by a
Regional Workshop sometime in July, 1998. 

At this workshop, a set of national level trainers will be trained in the use
of the manual. 

The manual will then be sent to the national level co-operatives to adopt and
train trainers at national, provincial and primary levels to train women
