Seventh National Follow-up and Review workshop of ICA/Japan
former participants in Vietnam
*****************************************************

National follow-up and review workshop on the manage-ment of
agricultural co-operatives in Vietnam was held at Hanoi on 23rd of
September 1997 by the ICA Regional Office in close collaboration
with the Vietnam Co-operatives Union.

Seven former participants of the ICA-Japan Agrico-ops Management
Training Course participated in the Workshop. The participants were
able to explain the progress made on the development project proposals.

The Workshop was conducted by Dr. Daman Prakash, Director of the
Project. It was noted that organisational and financial support was
necessary to implement the project proposals.

Upon completion of the workshop, Dr. Prakash visited some of the
agricultural co-operatives in Hanoi and Hochi Minh City areas.

Since the introduction of the new Co-operative Law and in the context of
open market economy situation, agricultural co-operatives in Vietnam are
being reorganised in order to make them more effective and attractive for
the farmer-members. Agricultural co-operatives are perceived to be the
major contributors to the national food security aspects.
