ICA Regional Office undergoes reform

After a series of discussions within the ICA Management and member organisations and also with development partners, the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific has undertaken to make structural changes, effective January 1998.

Under the new organisational system, the Regional Director will be assisted by a Deputy Regional Director and four directors for four sub-regions-South, West and Central Asia, South-East Asia and South Pacific, East Asia and ICA/Japan Management Programmes.

While the Gender integration Project, Communication Department and the Bonow Trust administration will be directly responsible to the Regional Director, the overall responsibility of Finance, General Administration, Documentation and Personnel will be delegated by the Regional Director to the Deputy Regional Director.

The reorganisation was premised on the need to be more cost efficient. Team-work approach has been adopted in the Regional office, which now already started to show results.

Appreciation is due to our departing colleagues, namely, Upali Herath, A.H. Ganesan, Ram Prakash, Jagdish Singh, Ram Singh, Balam Singh, Rama Shankar and Janki Prasad. We wish them every success in their future endeavours.
