A New Chairman for the Singapore Co-operative Movement
------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Tan Kin Lian, CEO of NTUC INCOME has been elected as the new Chairman of the 
Singapore National Co-operative Federation (SNCF) at the 6th Triennial General Assembly
of the Federation which was held on Saturday 21 September 1996 at the Plaza Hotel.

Mr. Tan succeeds Mr. Lim Ho Seng, CEO NTUC Fairprice, who had served as the Chairman
of SNCF for the last six years. Under the byelaws of SNCF, a Chairman of the Executive
Council can serve for a maximum of two consecutive terms, a total of six years.

As for NTUC INCOME, members who buy life insurance from their co-op receive bonuses on 
their participating policies. The total amount of surplus set aside for these bonuses for 
1995 amounted to $123 million, as compared to $1.5 million paid out as dividends to its 
shareholders.

Drs. Robby Tulus Assumes Duties
--------------------------------

Mr. Robby Tulus, the Regional Director designated assumed duties as the new Regional 
Director of the ICA ROAP on 07 October, 1996. Mr. G.K. Sharma, Regional Director finally 
retired from the ICA and took up an assignment as Sr. Advisor to the Director-General of 
the ICA.

Mr. Tulus formerly worked as a Senior Policy Advisor in the ICA ROAP and Country Director of
the CCA for Philippines and Regional Director for Asia in the ICA. During his early days 
of co-operative career, he was worked in the development of credit co-operative movement 
of Indonesia.
