Philippines Co-ops Now in Cyberspace
***********************************
From confederation of 1,400 co-operatives in the Philippines called
NATCO or the National Confederation of Co-operatives, it is learned
that NATCCO is now also on the NET. NATCCO is an affiliate of the
International Co-operative Alliance (ICA)
This information was confirmed by Miss Teresita M de Leon the
General Manager of NATCCO through an E-mail. She added that
"we are working in having a homepage. Watch for it".
Earlier two of the ten major federations of NATCCO had also
acquired their net connections. These are located separately
in the two of the three major regions of the country. These
are MASS-SPEC for the Mindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi and VICTO in
the Visayas. NATCCO based in Quezon City, Metro Manila could
serve for the Luzon federations.
MASS-SPEC with 458 affiliates of primary co-ops stands for
the Mindanao Alliance of Self-Help Societies-Southern Philippines
Educational Cooperative Centre. Mass-Spec has its main office at
Tiano-Pacana Sts in Cagayan de Oro City. VICTO having 247 affiliates
stands for the Visayas Co-operative Development Centre and has its
main office in the First Street, Beverly Hills, Lahug, Cebu.
