| Abstract | Cook has accurately identified the principal reason for difficulty managing agricultural cooperatives. The challenge of harmonizing inherently conflicting member interests to be responsive to the market is unique to user-owned (cooperative) firms. This requires more organizational, communication, resource allocation, and other leadership skills than is required of the managers of IOFs in the same market. |
